A grey, even sky over the water, with hardly a ripple anywhere and no real change in pressure. On Lac Faix, work structure within a cast of the bank first. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac Faix is set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Elevation runs to 326 metres. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 1.4 km in total. Nearest town is Val-d'Or, 112 km off. For a city, Gatineau is 235 km off. Nearest other option: 0.9 km out stands Lac Vaart, Lac du Tresor about 0.9 km, 1 km out stands Lac Antenaise, Lac Bachas about 1.2 km and 1.4 km out stands Lac Bacalan. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Read Lac Faix before you fish it and the day goes better.
The year swings from about -15°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Plan around that when you fish Lac Faix.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Vaart sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Check the current arrangement for Lac Faix.
