Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a proper ripple driven from the SW and no real change in pressure. Lac Faillon should fish best around structure within a cast of the bank today. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient.

Look for Lac Faillon in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The water sits 352 metres up. At 24.07 sq km you are fishing a fraction of it whatever you do. With about 65 km of shoreline, local advice saves a lot of walking. Few waters listed in Abitibi-Témiscamingue are bigger. Head to Senneterre, 43 km away, for anything you forgot. Barraute is 73 km away, with Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 83 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lac Faillon light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages move between -18°C in January and 16°C in July. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Faillon rarely departs from it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. For a change of water, Lac Gosselin is 4.9 km distant. What applies at Lac Faillon may have changed since it was mapped.
