Passing showers with dry spells between, with calm air over the water with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Eva should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Within Lanaudière, Quebec, you have Lac Eva. It lies 454 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 18 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. A shoreline of some 2.0 km keeps the choices simple. Some 49 km away sits Manawan, the nearest settlement. Ferme-Neuve lies 78 km off, Mont-Laurier another 94 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Lanaudière: pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and rock bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The shape of Lac Eva decides where the fish sit.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -16°C for January. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lac Eva runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Deuxieme lac Twin sits 1.9 km off and takes the overflow. Where Lac Eva is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
