Rain on and off through the day, with a whisper of wind from the S with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Espadon are likely to sit near the first drop-off and weed lines. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

You will find Lac Espadon in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Height above sea level is 377 metres. The water covers some 32 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 4.8 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. The closest town, Godefroy, is 12 km distant. After that come Fermont at 144 km and Wabush at 162 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Espadon the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Between January at about -20°C and July at about 14°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about early November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Lac Espadon the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Voltigeur at 6.1 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Lac Espadon.
