Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the SW with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac Esley should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. A grinding day likely, with the evening worth the effort if any is. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Esley lies in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Everything around it is spruce and muskeg. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. Start from Saint-Alexandre, 36 km down the road. Then Port-Cartier, 36 km, and Sept-Îles, 76 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Côte-Nord list logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Lac Esley the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -16°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. That shapes the year on Lac Esley.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac Pistolet is 0.7 km distant. For Lac Esley, the notice at the access point is the final word.
