Damp, showery conditions today, with barely a breath of wind and pressure sitting still. Fish at Lac Ephrem should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. Save your energy for the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Ephrem is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean listings for Quebec. It stands 522 metres above sea level. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Saint-Félicien, is 65 km distant. Saguenay sits 165 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Other water within reach: Lac BBC 1 km, Lac Itoff at about 1.1 km, Lac Poukapouka 1.1 km, Lac Oxo at about 1.5 km and Lac Paul 1.5 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The near bank of Lac Ephrem is often the one people ignore.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -18°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. On Lac Ephrem the same rules apply, with local timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac BBC at 1 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac Ephrem is worth confirming on the day.
