A grey, even sky over the water, with a light S breeze and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Entonnoir should come off reed fringes and open pockets. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Lac Entonnoir in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. The setting is spruce and muskeg on every side. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Quebec listings. Some 50 km away sits Saint-Fulgence, the nearest settlement. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 62 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The near bank of Lac Entonnoir is often the one people ignore.
Averages move between -19°C in January and 15°C in July. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid May. In an average year the thaw lands around mid May and the freeze near early November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Lac Entonnoir that shapes the whole year.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac de l'Anis sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac Entonnoir carry more weight than any list.
