Rain on and off through the day, with a soft WSW wind with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac en Zigzag should hold close to the calm side of the wind. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac en Zigzag lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The bank is 380 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. For a base, Pont Rouge sits 82 km out. It is 123 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. Within easy reach: Lac du Tisserand after 0.6 km, Lac de la Pie-Grieche 0.9 km off, Lac Cousineau after 1.3 km, Lac de la Coupe 1.5 km off and Lac Real after 1.6 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac en Zigzag gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac en Zigzag fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac du Tisserand sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac en Zigzag, the notice at the access point is the final word.
