Lac Elmco Fishing Guide, Mauricie, Quebec

• Overview

  Lac Elmco is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. It sits at 408 metres above sea level. It measures about 33 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 3.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest place of any size is Weymontachie, 43 km away. Leblanc follows at 78 km, then Saint-Félicien at 87 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.

• Where to Fish on Lac Elmco

  We hold no depth figure for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Lac Elmco gives up more to patience than to distance.

  Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May.
