Rain moving through today, with enough NE wind to stack food downwind with a settled glass. Give any hard bottom among the soft the first hour at Lac Duncan. Numbers are low everywhere; the evening is the pick of them. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Duncan lies in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. The surroundings are spruce and muskeg. At 102.38 sq km you are fishing a fraction of it whatever you do. The bank is deeply indented, so shelter is easy to find in any wind. It is among the larger waters listed here for Nord-du-Québec. Start from Chisasibi, 72 km down the road. Waskaganish is 229 km away, with Kashechewan at 282 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The near bank of Lac Duncan is often the one people ignore.
In an average year July sits at 14°C and January at -22°C. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid May. Open water usually runs from mid May until about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Duncan.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Kauskatikakamaw, 14 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Duncan for certain.
