Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a mirror surface most of the day and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac Duke is shallow cover and weed edges. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Duke lies in Mauricie, Quebec. The setting is boreal forest on every side. Surface area runs to about 4 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. The nearest place of any size is Leblanc, 88 km away. Beyond it, Manawan at 126 km and Weymontachie at 130 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Duke repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Lac Duke the same rules apply, with local timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lac Mauge is 0.9 km off. Confirm before you fish Lac Duke.
