Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft SW wind and steady pressure. The water to cover at Lac Duff is inflow corners and shaded margins. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Duff is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. Land around it is spruce and muskeg. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. The town to know is Saint-Alexandre, 42 km out. The nearest city of size is Saguenay, 312 km away. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. On Lac Duff that means starting tight and working out.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. This far north the hard season runs and runs. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. On Lac Duff the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac Noel is 0.8 km distant. The position on Lac Duff is worth confirming on the day.
