Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft SSW wind and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac du Trot along windblown banks where food collects. A grinding day likely, with the evening worth the effort if any is. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac du Trot is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. The water sits 613 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are larger. Some 59 km away sits Saint-Honoré, the nearest settlement. Saint-Ambroise is 64 km and Labrecque 64 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac du Trot gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That shapes the year on Lac du Trot.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Petit lac Rond, 0.8 km away. Confirm before you fish Lac du Trot.
