A still, cloudless night on the water, with a mirror surface most of the day and no real change in pressure. On Lac du Reticule, work the seam between weed and open water first. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac du Reticule lies in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, in Quebec. The ground round it is mixed forest. Val-d'Or is the closest place, 92 km off. Gatineau sits 240 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Water in the same corner: Lac Lippelo 1.3 km away, Lac Virgule roughly 1.8 km, Lac Ottoman 2 km away, Lac de la Fouee roughly 2.6 km and Lac de la Glaise 2.7 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Read Lac du Reticule before you fish it and the day goes better.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about late November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac du Reticule to follow that timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. The nearest alternative is Lac Lippelo, 1.3 km out. Ask locally about Lac du Reticule if anything is unclear.
