A wet system passing over today, with light air out of the SW with a settled glass. On Lac du Renard, work points where shallow meets deep first. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac du Renard is a Quebec water, Quebec side. Height above sea level is 290 metres. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. The nearest place of any size is Deep River, 23 km away. Gatineau is the closest city, 171 km away. Water in the same corner: 0.7 km out stands Lac Buchenou, Lac Pendu the better part of 0.9 km, 1.3 km out stands Lac Bunge, Lac Nuage the better part of 2 km and 2.4 km out stands Lac Blond. This one is safely inside the county line.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Take Lac du Renard a stretch at a time. Any change in depth is worth more than any change in bait.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -14°C for January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Time your trip to Lac du Renard by conditions rather than dates.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Buchenou sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac du Renard may have changed since it was mapped.
