Damp, showery conditions today, with a whisper of wind from the SSE and no real change in pressure. Whatever swims in Lac du Rat should be near reed fringes and open pockets. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Out in Côte-Nord, Quebec, sits Lac du Rat. Elevation runs to 506 metres. Surface area is around 15 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The full circuit measures close to 1.7 km on foot. For supplies, Godefroy is 74 km out. Saguenay sits 361 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Lac du Rat responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 14°C, while January sits near -21°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about mid May. The season between ice runs from about mid May to early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac du Rat runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac de la Queue at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac du Rat in what we hold.
