Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a steady W wind and steady pressure. Expect most activity at Lac du Potamot around sheltered bays and points. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac du Potamot lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. It sits at 617 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Most waters listed here for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean are larger. Pont Rouge lies 142 km from the water. Then Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, 144 km, and Labrecque, 145 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac du Potamot repays a walk before the first cast.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 15°C, while January sits near -19°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near mid November: that is the shape of an average year. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. That is the shape of the year on Lac du Potamot.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac du Lievre, 3.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Lac du Potamot before loading the car.
