Solid cloud cover today, with light air out of the S with a settled glass. The productive water at Lac du Portage will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Night
Set in Mauricie, Lac du Portage is a Quebec water. It stands 351 metres above sea level. Roughly 16 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 2.3 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Weymontachie is the closest town at 45 km. Beyond it, La Tuque at 46 km and Manawan at 91 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac du Portage responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -16°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac du Portage.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. For a change of water, Lac Lisleroy is 1.3 km distant. Nothing on Lac du Portage should be assumed from this page alone.
