Clear overhead with good moonlight, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac du Granite will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient.

Lac du Granite falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. It stands 342 metres above sea level. Around 19 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Around 2.7 km of margin, front to back. The closest town, Saint-Isidore, is 54 km distant. Beyond it, Ville-Marie at 64 km and Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues at 65 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Abitibi-Témiscamingue names northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lac du Granite the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -16°C for January. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It holds true on Lac du Granite more years than not.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Lac Sec is 1 km distant. The position on Lac du Granite is worth confirming on the day.
