An even grey lid over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the glass holding level. Lac du Garrot should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Quebec holds Lac du Garrot, in Côte-Nord. Tidal water begins 26 km from here. About 5 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Most waters listed here for Côte-Nord are larger. The town to know is Hauterive, 30 km out. The big place round here is Saguenay, 221 km distant. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac du Garrot responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -16°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac du Garrot.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Lac du Lynx, 1.1 km out. None of that is settled for Lac du Garrot in what we hold.
