An unsettled, stormy sky today, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure going nowhere. On Lac du Diable, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac du Diable lies in Laurentides, in Quebec. The bank is 314 metres above sea level. With some 12 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 2.1 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The nearest town is Mont-Laurier, 20 km away. Ferme-Neuve follows at 29 km, then Rivière-Rouge at 31 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Read Lac du Diable for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -15°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Time your trip to Lac du Diable by conditions rather than dates.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Lauzon is 1.1 km distant. For Lac du Diable in particular, ask before you travel.
