Rain moving through today, with a decent SSW wind working the banks and steady pressure. The water to cover at Lac du Cure is the margins and the shelf beyond them. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac du Cure falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. The bank is 431 metres above sea level. With some 14 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 2.4 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Métabetchouan at 32 km is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Chambord (39 km) and Desbiens (39 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean cover northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Anyone new to Lac du Cure should walk it once before setting up.
In an average year July sits at 17°C and January at -17°C. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac du Cure runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Petit lac du Cure, 0.6 km away. Rules at Lac du Cure are worth checking on the day.
