Damp, showery conditions today, with a soft S wind and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac du Crapet along the seam between weed and open water. The morning is where the day comes good. Ride the conditions while they last. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac du Crapet is set in Lanaudière, Quebec. The ground around here is rolling bush. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Most waters listed here for Lanaudière are larger. Head to Sainte-Béatrix, 12 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Rawdon at 14 km and Chertsey at 14 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac du Crapet responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -14°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. The season on Lac du Crapet rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Couture, 1.2 km away. Signs at Lac du Crapet carry more weight than any list.
