Showers crossing the water today, with a working SSW breeze and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac du Crane is windblown banks where food collects. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Côte-Nord, Lac du Crane is a Quebec water. The ground around here is northern bush. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. Godefroy at 144 km is the nearest place to stop. Hauterive is 243 km away, with Baie-Comeau at 245 km. If this one is busy: Lac de la Crete (15 km), Lac de la Neige Creuse near enough 17 km, Lac a la Croix (28 km), Lac Auriac near enough 28 km and Lac Labbe (39 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records hold no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac du Crane repays a walk before the first cast.
The warmest month averages 14°C, the coldest about -22°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid May. Expect the water usable from around mid May until roughly early November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. The season on Lac du Crane rarely departs from it.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac de la Crete, 15 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Rules at Lac du Crane are worth checking on the day.
