An even grey lid over the water, with a gentle ripple from the W and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Lac du Club should be near the shallows early and the drop later. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Laurentides, Quebec, is where Lac du Club sits. It sits at 302 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to roughly 1.57 sq km, so plan for one area rather than the whole. The margin runs to about 12 km in total. On our Laurentides list it sits near the top for size. For a base, Mont-Laurier sits 8.7 km out. It is 128 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. At Lac du Club the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -15°C at the bottom of winter. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac du Club runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Petit lac Groulx, 1 km out. None of that is settled for Lac du Club in what we hold.
