A grey, even sky over the water, with light air out of the S with the barometer flat. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Lac du Chinook. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac du Chinook is set in Outaouais, Quebec. The bank is 291 metres above sea level. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is a small entry by Outaouais standards. Some 14 km away sits Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, the nearest settlement. Orléans is the closest city, 64 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. The county list is broader than any single water. Take Lac du Chinook a stretch at a time.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. It holds true on Lac du Chinook more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Chuchua sits 0.3 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Lac du Chinook.
