A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with a busy SW wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac du Centre along the margins and the shelf beyond them. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac du Centre sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, out in Quebec. It sits at 291 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to roughly 1.58 sq km, so plan for one area rather than the whole. You are looking at roughly 6.8 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. On our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list it sits near the top for size. Some 21 km away sits Amos, the nearest settlement. After that come Macamic at 50 km and Barraute at 58 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Treat Lac du Centre as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Lac du Centre rarely departs from it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac a la Prele, 2.1 km away. None of that is settled for Lac du Centre in what we hold.
