Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the S with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac du Castor should be near the margins and the shelf beyond them. The morning is where the day comes good. Ride the conditions while they last. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac du Castor is a Lanaudière water, Quebec side. The land about it is rolling bush. It runs to roughly 16 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. A shoreline of some 2.0 km keeps the choices simple. Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm sits 13 km from the bank. Further out sit Chertsey (27 km) and Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson (27 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. At Lac du Castor light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Anyone fishing Lac du Castor regularly works to that calendar.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. The nearest alternative is Lac Galipault, 1.4 km out. Nothing on Lac du Castor should be assumed from this page alone.
