A rainy spell sitting over the area, with a light chop building from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Give the shallows early and the drop later the first hour at Lac du Canot. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Set in Mauricie, Lac du Canot is a Quebec water. The water sits 390 metres up. The water covers some 21 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 2.5 km, small enough to learn in a day. Manawan sits 73 km from here and is the nearest stop. Beyond it, Leblanc at 94 km and Ferme-Neuve at 105 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Mauricie: northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac du Canot the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac du Canot.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Hebert, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac du Canot carry more weight than any list.
