Overcast skies today, with dead-still conditions with a settled glass. Fish at Lac du Canard should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. Fair numbers all day without a real peak. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac du Canard in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The water sits 331 metres up. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Mattawa, is 55 km distant. Then Deep River, 64 km, and Chalk River, 73 km. Nearby alternatives: Lac du Heron roughly 1.5 km, Lac de la Mouette just 2.4 km, Lac de la Butte roughly 2.6 km, Lac du Becasseau just 3.1 km and Lac Long roughly 3.4 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac du Canard the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about -14°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac du Canard.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac du Heron, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac du Canard in what we hold.
