A wet system passing over today, with a steady S wind with the barometer flat. Most of the action on Lac du Boom should come off the seam between weed and open water. The productive run goes night into morning. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac du Boom lies in Mauricie, in Quebec. It lies 196 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Ground here is low by Quebec standards. La Tuque is the closest town at 24 km. Laurentides lies 58 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 89 km. Close by you also have: Lac de l'Etape 0.8 km off, Lac de la Cache (3.3 km), Lac Mud 4 km off, Lac des Hauteurs (4.6 km) and Lac Spruce 4.7 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Treat Lac du Boom as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -16°C for January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Lac du Boom rarely departs from it.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac de l'Etape at 0.8 km is the sensible second choice. Treat access at Lac du Boom as something to verify.
