Heavy overcast holding through the day, with calm air over the water with a settled glass. On Lac Drosera, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Lac Drosera is a Quebec water. The water sits 364 metres up. Supplies mean a trip to Saint-Boniface, 110 km off. Then Val-d'Or, 115 km, and Ferme-Neuve, 121 km. Within a short drive: Lac Framee (0.3 km), Lac des Liserons some 1.4 km off, Lac Senateur (2 km), Lac Ovibos some 2.3 km off and Lac Thabor (2.5 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Drosera the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warmest month averages 17°C, the coldest about -17°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Open water usually runs from early May until about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. At Lac Drosera the season follows that pattern closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac Framee is 0.3 km off. Rules at Lac Drosera are worth checking on the day.
