Flat light and a covered sky today, with steady pressure of wind from the ESE and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac Dornon is any hard bottom among the soft. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

Look for Lac Dornon in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. Elevation runs to 192 metres. Roughly 6.68 sq km of surface: treat each bay as a water in its own right. The shoreline runs to about 38 km, far more than one trip can cover. It is one of the larger waters we list anywhere in Quebec. Inukjuak is the closest place, 235 km off. Saguenay sits 998 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Reported across Nord-du-Québec: Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Dornon a short move beats a long cast.
Typical July readings run about 13°C; by January the average is down near -23°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late May. From about late May to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Dornon.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. The nearest alternative is Lac Farandriet, 19 km out. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Dornon for certain.
