Dull, settled light over the water, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Doreen will be around sheltered bays and points. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Doreen in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits at 400 metres above sea level. At about 60 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. With about 4.3 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. For a base, Godefroy sits 131 km out. Saguenay sits 298 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name logperch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Lac Doreen fishes better once you know its edges.
Average temperature peaks around 15°C in July and bottoms out near -20°C in January. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid May. Climate averages put the opening at about mid May and the closing near early November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. It holds true on Lac Doreen more years than not.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. A jetty or pier is mapped about 1 km from here. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Carol is 0.7 km off. For Lac Doreen in particular, ask before you travel.
