Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a mirror surface most of the day with the barometer flat. Fish at Lac Donovan should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. Little to get excited about, though the morning holds a sliver of promise. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Lac Donovan is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings for Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have boreal forest. It measures about 18 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. There is roughly 5.2 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Supplies mean a trip to Senneterre, 86 km off. Beyond it, Lebel-sur-Quévillon at 110 km and Barraute at 115 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Donovan gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The year swings from about -18°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Donovan.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Pabos at 2 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac Donovan locally before you travel.
