Soft grey light all day today, with a faint SSE drift and pressure sitting still. The fish at Lac Disson are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Within Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, you have Lac Disson. It stands 310 metres above sea level. With some 34 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The full circuit measures close to 2.4 km on foot. Macamic lies 28 km from the water. Further out sit La Sarre (40 km) and Amos (53 km). Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Lac Disson gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Averages move between -19°C in January and 17°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. On Lac Disson the same rules apply, with local timing.
No access rule appears in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Chicobi, 11 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Disson in what we hold.
