Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a whisper of wind from the SSW with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Dipper should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. Not a day the forecast likes; the morning keeps a flicker of interest. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

Quebec holds Lac Dipper, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The water sits 418 metres up. With some 23 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 3.0 km, and most of it is walkable. For supplies, Senneterre is 108 km out. The big place round here is Gatineau, 272 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Abitibi-Témiscamingue records list northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Treat Lac Dipper as a water to read rather than to cover.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -18°C at the bottom of winter. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Dipper.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Caverhill at 2.5 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Dipper are worth checking on the day.
