Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with light air out of the SW and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lac des Grosses Roches is inflow corners and shaded margins. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet.

Lac des Grosses Roches is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. Around the bank it is pine and birch. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. Some 48 km away sits Baie-Comeau, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Saguenay, 279 km distant. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Côte-Nord include logperch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Take Lac des Grosses Roches a stretch at a time.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -14°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac des Grosses Roches fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Saint-Joseph at 1.5 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac des Grosses Roches locally before you travel.
