Heavy overcast holding through the day, with air barely moving with a settled glass. Activity on Lac des Caribous should centre on any hard bottom among the soft. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Lac des Caribous in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. The bank is 292 metres above sea level. The water covers some 18 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 1.7 km on foot. Nearest town is Chute-aux-Outardes, 36 km off. It is 202 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Fish Lac des Caribous where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac des Caribous runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac de l'Avion, 2.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac des Caribous if anything is unclear.
