Rain moving through today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac de l'Ocelot should centre on sheltered bays and points. A hard day on paper; the morning edges the rest. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac de l'Ocelot in Côte-Nord, Quebec. It sits at 543 metres above sea level. At 2 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Côte-Nord. For supplies, Saint-Honoré is 82 km out. Further out sit Saint-Fulgence (83 km) and Saint-Ambroise (92 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Lac de l'Ocelot fishes better once you know its edges.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -19°C at the bottom of winter. The ice season is long here and the open one short. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Lac de l'Ocelot rarely departs from it.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Lac Hoyt is 0.6 km off. Signs at Lac de l'Ocelot carry more weight than any list.
