Solid cloud cover today, with a light chop building from the SW with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac de l'Ile is reed fringes and open pockets. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Côte-Nord end of Quebec holds Lac de l'Ile. It stands 328 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 58 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. You are looking at roughly 5.5 km of shoreline, with plenty of water between access points. Nearest place of any size is Port-Cartier, 68 km away. For a city, Saguenay is 293 km off. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac de l'Ile gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Between January at about -18°C and July at about 15°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid May. The lid tends to go about mid May and return around early November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. That is the shape of the year on Lac de l'Ile.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Knapton at 3.3 km is the sensible second choice. The position on Lac de l'Ile is worth confirming on the day.
