Heavy overcast holding through the day, with just enough WSW wind to ripple the surface and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac de l'Amour should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac de l'Amour is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, in Quebec. Country round the bank runs to boreal forest. The water covers some 21 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The edge runs 2.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Some 66 km away sits Normandin, the nearest settlement. Then Saint-Félicien, 72 km, and Albanel, 73 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac de l'Amour the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate normals give 15°C for July and -18°C for January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. The lid tends to go about early May and return around early November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Time your trip to Lac de l'Amour by conditions rather than dates.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Lac de la Sarracenie is 1.9 km off. For Lac de l'Amour, the notice at the access point is the final word.
