Fresh rain topping the water up today, with the water lying quiet with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac de l'Ambroise is points where shallow meets deep. Everything points to the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac de l'Ambroise is one of the Lanaudière waters in Quebec. The water sits 397 metres up. At 4 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. You are 36 km from Manawan. After that come Weymontachie at 66 km and Saint-Michel-des-Saints at 71 km. Also worth knowing: Lac Poutrelle at 1.1 km, Lac Kacipapitcikatek out at 2.5 km, Petit lac Mos at 2.8 km, Lac Kantcockekamacik out at 3.7 km and Lac Kasesekatikwakamacik at 3.9 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac de l'Ambroise rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac de l'Ambroise rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Poutrelle is 1.1 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac de l'Ambroise in what we hold.
