A closed sky with even light today, with a whisper of wind from the WSW and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac de la Trinite along shallow cover and weed edges. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac de la Trinite in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Beyond the shoreline you have taiga. At about 56 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 4.0 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Size puts it in the front rank of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Supplies mean a trip to Albanel, 68 km off. Dolbeau-Mistassini is 70 km away, with Pont Rouge at 73 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac de la Trinite the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -20°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. At Lac de la Trinite the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Aline is 0.8 km off. For Lac de la Trinite in particular, ask before you travel.
