A grey, even sky over the water, with steady pressure of wind from the S and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lac de la Sterne around reed fringes and open pockets. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac de la Sterne is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. It stands 394 metres above sea level. The water measures roughly 4 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Saint-Félicien lies 49 km from the water. The big place round here is Saguenay, 129 km distant. Near neighbours: Lac Margot 0.7 km, Lac Eric (1.1 km), Lac du Rubis 1.5 km, Lac Boisvert (1.8 km) and Lac de la Tour en Bois 2 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac de la Sterne gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -18°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Plan around that when you fish Lac de la Sterne.
Our records carry no access rule either way. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Margot is 0.7 km off. None of that is settled for Lac de la Sterne in what we hold.
