Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac de la Savane should be near the shallows early and the drop later. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Lac de la Savane in the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean part of Quebec. It lies 274 metres above sea level. A pocket of water where every cast reaches cover. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. The closest town, Albanel, is 40 km away. It is 138 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac de la Savane the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is -20°C to 17°C. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. On average, early May opens the water and mid November closes it again. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Plan any trip to Lac de la Savane around it.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Noel at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Treat Lac de la Savane as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
