Solid cloud cover today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. On Lac de la Piloselle, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac de la Piloselle is one of the Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean waters in Quebec. It lies 431 metres above sea level. Roughly 13 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Roughly 2.3 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Leblanc is the closest place, 86 km off. Chapais is 96 km away, with Chibougamau at 99 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Treat Lac de la Piloselle as a water to read rather than to cover.
Climate normals give 16°C for July and -18°C for January. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It holds true on Lac de la Piloselle more years than not.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Catus at 1.6 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac de la Piloselle, the notice at the access point is the final word.
