Solid cloud cover today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. On Lac de la Peche, work points where shallow meets deep first. The numbers single out the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, is where Lac de la Peche sits. It sits in boreal forest. Start from Saint-Félicien, 43 km down the road. Saguenay is the closest city, 137 km away. Within a short run: Lac de la Femelle just 0.5 km, Lac Nash within 0.7 km, Lac Nelson just 0.7 km, Lac du Buck within 0.8 km and Lac Rat Musque just 1.1 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. At Lac de la Peche the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac de la Peche fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac de la Femelle at 0.5 km is the nearest alternative. Signs at Lac de la Peche carry more weight than any list.
