Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft SW wind with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac de la Jungle should be near the calm side of the wind. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Lac de la Jungle is a Quebec water. It sits in rolling bush. About 7 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Head to Senneterre, 94 km away, for anything you forgot. Gatineau is the closest city, 251 km away. Neighbouring water: Lac Fiacre a touch under 0.7 km, 0.8 km out stands Lac Opium, Lac Cambium a touch under 1 km, 1.4 km out stands Lac Gayal and Lac Tannois a touch under 1.8 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac de la Jungle gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It holds true on Lac de la Jungle more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Fiacre, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Lac de la Jungle carry more weight than any list.
