Sun coming and going behind the cloud today, with a faint SSE drift and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac de la Hache along the margins and the shelf beyond them. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Within Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, you have Lac de la Hache. It sits in mixed forest. This is sizeable water at about 1.10 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. The edge runs 4.4 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Few waters listed in Abitibi-Témiscamingue are bigger. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Isidore, 40 km away. Further out sit Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues (44 km) and Ville-Marie (55 km). This one is safely inside the county line.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Anyone new to Lac de la Hache should walk it once before setting up.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Lac de la Hache fishes to that pattern most years.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Berval, 5.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Lac de la Hache before loading the car.
